My husband's name is Lance Richardson, two sons, Easton (12), and Archie (9), and a daughter Wren (3).
In mid-August I found a lump on my right breast. After long days full of mammograms, ultrasounds, mri's, ct/bone scans, bloodwork and a biopsy to the tumor as well as close proximity lymph nodes, I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. I met with my oncologist in Dubuque and established an action plan. I went to Iowa City and had a mastectomy on my right breast on September 18th. During my surgery, the surgeon removed 3 additional lymph nodes, which tested cancerous. Based on the location of them, she made the decision to do a full dissection of my axillary lymph nodes on my right side. I will have another biopsy on my left breast on Monday, September 30th and a check-up with my surgeon on October 1st to make sure I am healing. Then I will meet with my oncologist on October 8th to discuss what dose of chemotherapy I will do which will be followed by radiation. My chemotherapy will take place 4-6 weeks after my mastectomy so I am fully healed. Please let me know if you need anything else. I appreciate you thinking of me and my family and am thankful for this opportunity. Thanks, Whitney
