Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Bowman
By: Addison Messerich & Meritt Rathje
Mrs. Bowman is a first-grade teacher at the elementary school in Miles. She was first teaching in Sabula at East Central. Mrs. Bowman has been teaching for 33 years. Growing up, she attended Maquoketa High School. Since the second grade, she knew she wanted to become a teacher. She got this job right out of college and stayed in Sabula until East Central became Easton Valley, and then moved to teach in Miles.
Mrs. Bowman loves working with kids and watching them grow throughout the year. Her favorite project to teach is Dr. Seuss. He was the first author to write fun and interesting books for beginners. Every year she celebrates with the kids all day making green eggs and ham, reading Dr. Seuss's books, and having fun! She enjoys having an interactive classroom with kids, making learning fun for everyone.
Outside of school, she enjoys reading and golfing. Mrs. Bowman enjoys watching her kids participate in different sports. She has a big heart for all her family members and loves spending time with them. Mrs. Bowman has taught first grade for my brothers and I. During my senior year, I decided to SES with her first-grade class. It was the best decision I made, her classroom is always filled with laughs, and excitement every day when I walk in. There is never a dull moment in Mrs. Bowman's first-grade classroom.
